KARACHI: There is a need to build the peoples’ trust in police force, stressed the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.D. Khawaja here on Saturday
He was addressing a police `Darbar’ at the CPO here. The Darbar was also attended by the DSPs and other police officials who were promoted recently. The IGP urged the police officers to use the powers given to them by the Department as per law and for rendering the public service.
He hoped that the newly promoted officials will work with commitment and dedication to serve the people in an effective manner. Khawaja also called for building the peoples’ trust on police as this would not only help improve its performance but would also foster the public-police relations.
He was of the view that the reforms and process of accountability and screening introduced in the police has improved the performance of this force which would be enhanced further in the days ahead. However, the IGP warned that action would be initiated against the police officials who would go beyond their mandate and authority.
He said that as the IGP he was committed to mould the police in to an efficient and people-friendly police force to perform its duties as per the law and expectations.
