ISLAMABAD: The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) has invited applications for 12-day training course on business and economic reporting from July 18.
A spokesman of the training centre said that the course would be held at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and would be taught by instructor Susan Chandler from the Medill School of Journalism and Naween A Mangi, formerly belonging to the Bloomberg News.
“Business and Economic Reporting” is designed to help practicing journalists to improve their writing skills on business topics. Students will break down and analyse the components of corporate earnings statements, balance-sheets and cash flow statements in order to write sophisticated pieces on the financial reports issued by publicly held companies.
The spokesman said that the participants would also be provided with important ratios to determine a company’s financial health. In addition, the course would cover basics of the financial markets and international economics including the effect that trade has on economic growth and currency valuations, he said.
According to the schedule, all the classes will be held daily from 9am to 5pm. Journalists wishing to apply should fill out the application form available at the CEJ website and send a copy of their fresh resume to the department.
