RAWALPINDI: Model Ayyan Ali could not appear in the Rawalpindi Custom Court in money laundering case on Monday. Rawalpindi Custom Court Judge Rana Aftab Ahmad took notice of the hearing of $500,000 money smuggling case.
Former Punjab governor Latif Khosa told the court that the summon about appearance of Ayyan Ali in the court was received late and she would not be able to arrive on time due to unfavourable weather. He requested the court that she should be granted exemption for one day and the court accepted the plea. The customs authorities filed petition to confiscate Ayyan Ali’s passport and took the plea that passport would only be given to her after the court’s decision. Rana Aftab Ahmad expressed displeasure over custom authorities statement and remarked that the court should not be dictated. The court adjourned the hearing till August 17.
