LAHORE: British High Commissioner Thomas Drew met Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader MNA Hamza Shahbaz here on Saturday and congratulated him on the recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Bilateral relations between both countries, promotion of cooperation in different sectors were discussed during the meeting. Talking to the British high commissioner, Hamza said that Pakistan and Britain were strong partners in different fields and relations were strengthening with the passage of time.
He said that the government, especially in Punjab, working on different projects in the fields of education, health and other public sectors. All major issues including load-shedding would be resolved by 2018, he said, and lauded cooperation by the Department for International Development (DFID) and expressed hope that more joint ventures would be initiated in future.
Drew said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has undertaken a number of public welfare-oriented projects which would help in upgrading the living standard of a common man. He assured all out cooperation from the United Kingdom in this regard. DFID Director Ben French was also present in the meeting.
